Marlin's Story

Marlin Edward "Tank" Messimer, 77, of Harrisburg, passed away on Sunday, Dec. 10, 2017, at UPMC Pinnacle, Harrisburg. He was the loving husband of Janis (Williams) Messimer.
He was born July 20, 1940, in Oriental, a son of the late Ralph and Pearl (Strauser) Messimer.

He honorably served his country in the Army.
Tank worked at Hempt Bros Inc. where he retired from after 51 years. He was a master mechanic and a quarry supervisor. In his younger years you might remember Tank as a drag car racer at Beaver Springs, Numidia and Kreamer race tracks.
He was a lifetime member of the Oriental Sportsman Club. He was an active member of the All-American Cruizers Car Club. He honorably served his country in the U.S. Army.

Tank is survived by his wife; fur babies; sons, Kevin D. Messimer and wife Darcy and Todd Michaels; granddaughter, Katelind Klinger and husband Jason; great-grandson, Mason Klinger; brother, Ralph "Butch" Messimer and wife Emma; sisters, Caroline Goodling, Marlene Goodling, Loretta Culver and husband Curtis, and Darlene Stahr and husband Herman; sister-in-law, Shirley Messimer; several nieces and nephews; all of his car club buddies.
He was predeceased by brothers, Henry and Roger Messimer; brothers-in-law, Glen and Earl Goodling. Also surviving are sons, Kenneth Messimer and wife Jean, and Keith Messimer; andaughter, Wanda Ray.

A viewing will be held from 3 to 4 p.m. Wednesday at Jesse H. Geigle Funeral Home, 2100 Linglestown Road, followed by the funeral at 4. Another celebration of life will be announced at a later time at the convenience of the family.
