Marietta Sever, 95, of Old Danville Highway, Point Township, Northumberland, passed away early Wednesday morning, Feb. 21, 2018, at the Geisinger Medical Center, Danville.
She was born Sept. 17, 1922, in Northumberland County, a daughter of the late Charles and Orphia (Lenz) Taylor. She was married to John R. "Jack" Sever who preceded her in death on April 29, 2012.
Marietta was a 1940 graduate of Northumberland High School where she was a proud member of the Girl's Marching Band. She then received an associate's degree from business school in Harrisburg, paying her own way by selling baked goods and produce at the Northumberland Market.
She was employed with Penn State University in the athletic department and with the "potato people" of the agriculture department.
Marietta greatly enjoyed the outdoors while gardening and birdwatching.
She is survived by one daughter, Cynthia E. Sever of Petersburg, AK and many special cousins.
In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by one daughter, Cassandra K. Sever on March 25, 2012.
A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday in Wolf's Cross Roads Cemetery, Sunbury.
Contributions in Marietta's memory may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.
Arrangements are by the Joseph W. Epler Funeral Home, 210 King St., Northumberland.
