Mariann L. Ernest, 93, of Middleburg, went to be her Lord and Savior at 8 a.m. Sunday, March 4, 2018, at Evangelical Community Hospital, Lewisburg.
She was born July 24, 1924, in Snyder County, a daughter of the late Anna (Steese) Diffenderfer. She married Elmer W. Ernest in 1965, and he preceded her in death in 2015.
Mariann was a 1942 graduate of Middleburg High School. She had been employed in area law offices and later at the Snyder County register and recorders office. She was elected to the office of register and recorder in 1978 and served three terms until her retirement in 1990.
She attended Bible Baptist Church in Kreamer, and was a member of the Snyder County Republican Women, and Christian Women's Club.
Mariann enjoyed traveling and attending Christian seminars and retreats. Her greatest joys in life were her family and especially her granddaughter and great-grandsons.
Mariann will be remembered for her great sense of humor and being a fun loving person who people enjoyed spending time with.
Surviving are a daughter and son-in-law, Jo Anne and Eugene Bowersox, of Middleburg; and one granddaughter, Angela Lindsay, and two great-grandsons, Nicholas and Brock Lindsay, all of Waynesboro.
Friends and family will be received from 1 to 2 p.m. Friday, March 9, at the Hummel Funeral Home, 574 Hill St., Middleburg, followed by the funeral at 2 with Pastor Thomas Krampert officiating.
Burial will be in Glendale Cemetery, Middleburg.
