Marian's Story

Marian Wallis Zeiders, 85, of Liverpool, entered into rest on Jan. 6, 2018, at Carolyn's House-Hospice of Central PA, Harrisburg. She had been struggling against cancer.
She was born Nov. 20, 1932, in Liverpool, a daughter of the late Edwin B. Sr and Mildred (Zaring) Wallis. In June of 1953, she married James E. "Jim" Zeiders who preceded her in death.

Marian was born at home, just south of Liverpool, the fourth of five children. She was a 1951 graduate of Newport High School where she met and later married her husband James.
Marian and Jim set up housekeeping near the family farm in an old schoolhouse in Hunter's Valley where she lived all of her life.
She was employed in the family business for many years where she sexed chicks, graded eggs, and many other jobs as one does in a family run operation. She and Jim were principals in Edwin Wallis and Sons, Inc. as well as the Ferryboat Campsites, Liverpool for a time, and later Gardenview Eggs in Reedsville. She was also was an Avon representative for many years.
Marian loved her church. She was active in all facets of a faith filled life, including teaching Sunday school for 50 years at The Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd, Liverpool. She and husband Jim, were faithful choir members for years as well as being available in most any capacity needed.
Marian loved her family. Family get together events were one of her greatest joys, not only with immediate family, but with extended family as well. Marian also loved getting together with friends and neighbors, especially the ladies of her Red Hat Society, Honey Bees of Hunters Valley.

She is survived by brothers, Robert "Bon" Wallis, of Liverpool and Bruce Wallis and his wife Ruthann, of Lewisburg, and brother-in-law, David Broscious, of Selinsgrove; daughter, Diane (Zeiders) Silks-Jeffries and her husband James, of Harrisburg; son, Jerry Zeiders and his wife Robin, of Hollidaysburg; grandson, Matthew Silks and wife Deann, of Lebanon; granddaughters, Blaire Zeiders and husband Dan Flatley, of Augusta, Ga., Meghan (Zeiders) Yates and husband Steve, of Downingtown, Erin (Zeiders) Cristy and husband John, of Gaithersburg, Md.; and two great-grandsons, Draven Silks and Alec Yates.

She was also preceded by her brother, Edwin "Bud" Wallis Jr. and his wife Twila; sister, Joan (Wallis) Broscious; and sister-in-law, Blanche Wallis.

Friends and family are invited for a visitation from 10 to 11:30 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 3, at The Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd, 1000 N. Front St., Liverpool, followed by a memorial service at 11:30, with the Rev. David Sensenig officiating. A luncheon will follow the service.
