Marian's Story

Marian Kozinski, 91, of 2616 Locust Gap Highway, Mount Carmel, and formerly of Shamokin, passed away at 4:30 a.m. Friday, Dec. 8, 2017, at Mount Carmel Senior Living Community.

She was born in Shamokin on Feb. 27, 1926, a daughter of the late Angeline (Parenzan) and Anthony Sunbury.

Marian was a graduate of Coal Township High School and was a member of the alumni association.

She was married to the late Leonard Henry Kozinski for 65 years.

She was a parishioner of Our Lady of Hope Church, Coal Township.

Mrs. Kozinski was employed as an activity aide at Mountain View Manor Nursing Home in Coal Township.

She enjoyed swimming, spending time at the beach and going to the casino's. She was an avid supporter of Our Lady of Lourdes Regional School and the school's sports programs.

She is survived by three children and their spouses, Diane and Joe Miller, of Snydertown, Bernie and Debbie Kozinski, of McVeytown, and Debbie and Mike Bakowicz, of Griswold, Connecticut; six grandchildren, Megan, Melissa, Monica, Marisa, Matthew and Stephen; and two great-grandchildren, Lucy and Kalen.

A religious service will be held at noon Tuesday, Dec. 12, at James Kelley Funeral Home, 1001 W. Arch St. at Maple Street, Coal Township, with the Rev. Steven Frenier, O.F.M., Conv., officiating.

Interment of her cremains will be private at All Saints Cemetery, Elysburg.

The family requests as an expression of sympathy, memorial contributions be made to Our Lady of Lourdes Regional School, 2001 Clinton Ave., Coal Township, PA 17866.

Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the James Kelley Funeral Home, James F. Kelley, director.
