M. June Gilbert, 88, of Buffalo Valley Lutheran Village in Lewisburg, formerly of Beavertown, passed away early Monday, June 26, 2017, at the Evangelical Community Hospital, Lewisburg.
She was born June 22, 1929, in Adams Township, Snyder County, a daughter of the late Clarence and Mary (Schrader) Bailey. On Aug. 19, 1951, she married H. Frank Gilbert who preceded her in death.

June was a 1946 graduate of Beaver Vocational High School.
She was employed by Charles Saylor Shirt factory, the McClure Garment factory, the Beavertown Silk Mill, and Bailey's Restaurant in her early years. She and her husband owned and farmed Lime Ridge Apple Orchard of Beavertown.
June was a hard working member of Beaver Lutheran Church, Beavertown, and had served as president of the Lutheran Church Women, on various committees and a prominent helper with funeral luncheons and food related events. She was also a long standing member and president of the Beavertown Home and School Club making many comforters for the Ronald McDonald House in Danville. She was active for many years with the Beavertown Rescue Hose Company Auxiliary, her last duties spent breading seafood for their fish suppers and making candy Easter eggs. She was also a member of the Eastern Star organization for many years.
June enjoyed cooking, baking, her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, as well as making quilts and comforters for friends and relatives.

She is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, David and Becky Gilbert, of Bensalem; two daughters and one son-in-law, Jane and Jim Eckert, of Milesburg and Sue Gilbert, of Selinsgrove; four grandchildren and their spouses, Chris and Christine Eckert, Andrea and Russell Dubbs, Josh and Mandee Eckert, and Jeffrey Gilbert; eight great-grandchildren, Morgan, Andrew, Brayden, Emily, Avery, Kailey, Rylee and Braxton; two sisters, Dueressa Hassinger, of Beaver Springs, and Anna Marie Mohrman, of Mechanicsburg; two sisters-in- law, Doris Bailey, of State College, and Marilyn Gilbert, of Florida; and 20 nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by one brother, Donald Bailey; and two sisters, Charlotte Steininger and Nancy Scholl.

Friends and family will be received from 1 to 2 p.m. Friday at Beaver Lutheran Church, Route 522, Beavertown, followed by the funeral at 2, with the Rev. Matthew D. Schuster, STS, presiding.
Burial will follow in Cedar Hill Cemetery, Beavertown.

Arrangements are by the Pheasant Funeral Home, 316 W. Market St., Beavertown.
