Louise E. Hassinger, 74, of Sunbury, passsed away Monday, Oct. 16, 2017, at the Geisinger Medical Center with her loving family surrounding her.
She was born Oct. 7, 1943, in Snydertown, a daughter of the late Chester and Ruth George. She was preceded in death by her husband, William Hassinger, in 1997.
She was employed by Phillips Industries, Wilson Products, and the Daily Item.
Louise enjoyed her pets, watching the TV show, "The Walking Dead" and just hanging out with her family. She was known as the "sheriff of Awl Street" to her family and neighbors.
She is survived by two daughters, Belinda A. Wolfe and Bonnie L. Kahley and her husband, Nicholas, all of Sunbury; seven grandchildren, Jesse, Brandy, Natasha, Mandy, Sarah, Lucinda and Samantha; 14 great-grandchildren; and two brothers, William George, of South Carolina and Norman George, of Snydertown.
She was preceded in death by a son, Lewis; and two grandsons, Ryan and Daniel.
A viewing will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the Jerre Wirt Blank Funeral Home, 395 State St., Sunbury, where the funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday.
Interment will be in St Peter's Lutheran Cemetery, Lower Augusta Township.
