Louis Sarkany

Pastor Louis Sarkany, 79, of rural Milton, entered into his heavenly home on Saturday, Aug. 4, 2018.
He was born May 17, 1939, in Budapest, Hungary, a son of the late Lajos and Klara (Hoffman) Sarkany. He was married to the former Charlotte A. James. Together they celebrated 46 years of marriage.

At the age of 17, Louis was a freedom fighter during the 1956 Hungarian revolution against communism. He graduated from high school in Hungary and later attended dental school in Italy. He immigrated to America and joined the Army, serving during the Vietnam War. He earned a Purple Heart and a Bronze Star in recognition of his heroism and bravery.
He retired from the Federal Bureau of Prisons, in Allenwood.
He was a member of the Community Mennonite Fellowship Church, Milton and was the Chaplain of the Christian Motorcycle Association.
Louis loved raising pigeons and doves and was a member of the National Pigeon Association.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by a daughter, Angela C. Sarkany-Trewitz of Danville; three grandsons, Jaedon Trewitz, Jhace Trewitz and Journey Trewitz; and two sisters, Klara Ambrus and Ibolya Sarkany, both of Budapest.

Friends and relatives will be received from noon to 1 p.m. Friday at the Community Mennonite Fellowship Church, 2985 Broadway Road, Milton, followed by the funeral at 1, with the Rev. David Martino and the Rev. Donald Sharp officiating.
Burial will follow in Beaver Run Mennonite Cemetery, Limestoneville.

Arrangements are under the care of the Shaw Funeral Home, 400 N. Front St., Milton.

God Bless all of you who enjoyed Louie as a friend and/or relative. He was a very special person. And a special friend to Carl and me. May he rest in peace in God's arms.
