Lorraine D. Zimmerman, 95, of Mount Carmel Senior Living Center, passed away at 7:35 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 23, 2017, at the Geisinger Medical Center, Danville. She had resided in Riverside for 18 years, then in 1992 she moved to Elysburg, then to Mount Carmel.
She was born Oct. 28, 1922, in Shamokin, a daughter of the late Charles Derk and Eva Genevish. On May 25, 1946, in Shamokin, she married Jack Zimmerman who preceded her in death on Aug. 3, 1982.
Lorraine was a 1940 graduate of Coal Township High School.
She was employed as an office worker for Merck Pharmaceuticals.
Lorraine was a member of Oaklyn Independent Baptist Church.
She is survived by one daughter and son-in-law, Dianne and Larry Zimmerman, of Klinton, Conn.; three granddaughters; nieces, Lynn Schickley, of Kulpmont, Marsha Fisher, of Viero, Fla., and many other nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by one granddaughter, Kelly Ann Zimmerman; and one niece, Karen Compello Idavavage.
A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday at Farrow Funeral Directors, Sixth and Chestnut streets, Shamokin, with the Rev. Roy Klippinger officiating.
Burial will be in Odd Fellows Cemetery.
