Lester W. Zechman, 97, of White Church Road, Middleburg, passed away on Friday evening, Oct. 27, 2017, at the Richfield Senior Living Center.
He was born May 29, 1920, in Middlecreek Township, Snyder County, a son of the late Ralph M. and Katie L. (Wagner) Zechman. On Aug. 24, 1940, he married the former Helen F. Hackenberg who preceded him in death on Aug. 16, 2006.
Lester farmed for many years and later worked at Wood-Mode in Kreamer, retiring in 1982 after 10 years of service.
He was a member of St. Paul's United Methodist Church, Penns Creek, the Reliance Hose Company, Middleburg, and the N.R.A.
Lester raised and trained Beagle dogs and enjoyed hunting, and in later years, driving his golf cart around the neighborhood. His family was always special to him.
Surviving are one daughter, Gloria J. Mengle, of Mount Pleasant Mills; one son and daughter-in-law, William J. and Carol Zechman, of Selinsgrove; three grandchildren and their spouses, Rodney and Jennifer Zechman, Tammy and Greg Stuck and Terry and Mike Spriggle; five great-grandchildren, Colby Zechman and his wife Corrin, Casey, Kelsey and Walker Stuck, and Reilley Spriggle; two step-great-granddaughters, Olivia and Savanah Riordan; one great-great-grandson, Cooper Zechman; his grandson Craig's wife and her husband, Sabrina and Marty Sickle; and one brother-in-law, Cletus "Bo" Clotfelter, of Middleburg.
He was preceded in death by one grandson, Craig Zechman in 2002; a son-in-law, George Mengle in 2016; and four sisters, Mildred Arnold, Dorothy Mitchell, Erma Clotfelter and Mary Goodling.
Friends and family will be received from 9 to 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 4, 2017, at the Hummel Funeral Home, 574 Hill St., Middleburg, followed by the funeral at 11 with Pastor Bob Klingerman officiating.
Burial will be in Glendale Cemetery, Middleburg.
