Lera's Story

Lera Maxine Middleswarth, 92, of rural Milton, passed away on Tuesday, June 27, 2017, at the Evangelical Community Hospital, Lewisburg.
She was born Dec. 28, 1924, in Milton, a daughter of the late Ralph M. and Grace Margaret (Shade) Hulsizer. She married George Necci in 1946 until his death in 1951. She married Charles Gundrum in 1958 until his death in 1981. She married William Middleswarth in 1986 until his death in 1999.

Maxine was a 1942 graduate of East Chillisquaque Township High School.
She had worked for Montgomery Mills in her earlier years and had retired from Chef Boyardee in 1986.
She was a member of St. Andrew's United Methodist Church in Milton, where she taught Sunday school for many years.
Maxine enjoyed spending time at the Senior Action Center in Milton, traveling, reading, and spending time with friends and family.

Maxine is survived by one daughter, Margaret Parker, of Milton; two sons, Ralph Gundrum and his wife Debra, and Charlie Gundrum, of Milton; 10 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and five stepchildren, Robin Middleswarth, of California, William and his wife Terry, of California, Ann Middleswarth, of Texas, Gail Yost, of State College, and Vickie Mull and her husband Dan, of Northumberland.
In addition to her three husbands, she was preceded in death by one son, George Necci II; one grandson; one great-grandson; and one brother, Fred Hulsizer.

Friends and relatives will be received from 10 to 11 a.m. Friday at St. Andrew's United Methodist Church, 100 Lower Market St., Milton, followed by the funeral at 11, with the Rev. Dale Hippensteel officiating.
Burial will follow in Milton Cemetery.
