During the early morning hours of Feb. 28, 2018, LeeAnn (McLallen) Avery departed this mortal coil to "Go Rest High on That Mountain" from her home in Northumberland. She passed due to heart failure abetted by untreated diabetes. So if you have diabetes, seek treatment and work with your doctor. If it prolongs even one life, maybe some good can come from this event.
LeeAnn was born March 6, 1969, in Youngstown, Ohio, to James A. and Charlene (Dehner) McLallen, both of whom proceeded her in passing. She attended Mercer High School in western Pennsylvania. While in high school she was active in the FFA graduating in 1987. She matriculated to Penn State Shenago Valley and then into the main campus. While in University Park she met the love of her life. They were wed at the Lime Ridge United Methodist Church on March 9, 1991. She worked in food preparation at the Subway in Milton, the K Cafe inside the KMart in Shamokin Dam and at Evangelical Community Hospital in Lewisburg. She liked country music, bingo and baking, especially for the cake wheel at Northumberland's Pineknotter Days. She was also a big fan of General Hospital and Harry Potter.
LeeAnn is survived by her husband, Jeffrey L. Avery, and daughter, Cassaundra "Cassie" L. Avery. She is also survived by her sister, Jamie Gerkin; and nieces, Savannah, Stacie and her "little buddy" Marissa, of Mechanicsburg; and an estranged sister, Wendy Wheeler.
A memorial service will be held at a time, date and place to be determined.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Old Friends, 1841 Paynes Depot Road, Georgetown, KY 40324, oldfriendsequine.org or any charity that benefits animals.
Dearest, you were loved.
