Leah M. Welfer, 93, of Sunbury, went to be with the Lord on April 27, 2017, at the Geisinger Medical Center, Danville.
She was born July 21, 1923 in Jersey Shore, a daughter of the late Charles W. and Blanche J. (Kaufman) Shortlidge of Jersey Shore. She was married to Stanley T. Welfer who preceded her in death in 1988.
Leah traveled with her husband, a civil engineer, until locating their home in Michigan City, Ind.
She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Larry T. and Nancy R. Welfer, of Sunbury; sister, Betty L. (Shortlidge) Doebler, of Avis; granddaughter, Jennifer (Welfer) Sebasovich and husband, Randy Sebasovich, of Sunbury; grandson, Craig T. Welfer and wife, Chrissy Welfer, of Camp Hill. Leah is also survived by her great-grandchildren, Jeffrey C. Sebasovich and fiancé, Shaelyn Murphy, Beau R. Sebasovich and girlfriend, Audrey Rohrbach, Nicholas T. Sebasovich, Alyssa N. Welfer, Kyle T. Welfer, and Zackary J. Welfer; great-great-granddaughters, Sydney L. Sebasovich and Lorelei J. Murphy. She is also survived by several nieces and a nephew and their families.
A memorial in celebration of Leah's life will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, May 11, at the First Baptist Church, Sunbury,
