Leah's Story

Leah C. Kiehl, 85, of Urban, passed away Friday, Jan. 6, 2017, at UPMC Susquehanna, Williamsport.

She was born April 6, 1931, in Rebuck, a daughter of the late Lizzie (Schwalm) and William Rebuck. She was married to Bruce A. Kiehl who passed away in 1998.

Leah was a member of the first graduating class of the Mahanoy Joint High School in 1949.

She was a stay at home mom raising her children.

She was an active member of St. Paul's U.C.C, Urban, where she had served on the church council, was a member of the Outreach Committee and taught Sunday school. She read her Bible daily and did not miss her daily devotions. Leah's kind, kindred spirit, and selflessness was an example to all her family and friends.

Leah was an avid reader and enjoyed gardening, cooking, baby sitting her grandchildren, traveling, camping in Potter County, and going for walks. She was a great seamstress, making clothing for many of her family and will be remembered for her pie and cookie baking.

Leah is survived by four daughters and sons-in-law, Beverly and Darrell Byerly, of Herndon, Rosanne and Michael Carson, of Dalmatia, Elaine and Lon Balum, of Herndon, and Marsha and Greg Michael, of Dalmatia; 10 grandchildren, Dale Lahr and his wife Marla, Denise Ferster and her husband Dane, Denelle Kagan and her husband Shane, Dustie Day and her husband Randy, Brandon Carson and Tammi, Brooke Tressler and her husband Katon, Kelsi Forster and her husband Steve, Kellon Balum and his wife Meghan, Laura Dreibelbis and her husband Jason, Lyndsey Michael; great-grandchildren, Chelsea, Ciera, Cydney, Jade and her fiance Brandon, Jayci, Jaya, Olivia, Avril, Jackson, Kennedy, Aiden, Kahner, Ellie, Caden, Kieran, Gage, Logan, Avery, Charlotte, Collin, Carter; one great-great-grandchild, Reid; one brother, Luke Rebuck; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by seven siblings, Lillian Deiter, Allen Rebuck, Anna Sigafoos, Billy Rebuck, Evelyn Schwalm, Ernest Rebuck and Neal Rebuck.

A visitation with the family will be held from 9 to 11 a.m. Friday at St. Paul's U.C.C., Urban, followed by a celebration of her life at 11, with the Rev. Daniel Shahan officiating.

Interment will follow at St. Paul's Cemetery, Urban.
