LaVerne C. Tressler
He was born June 18, 1927, in Trevorton, along with his best friend for life and twin brother Lamar, who preceded him in death in 1985, a son of the late Norman and Jennie (Fetter) Tressler. LaVerne married the love of his life, the former Nancy Milbrand on Sept. 29, 1951, in Trevorton. Nancy departed this life on July 29, 2015, leaving a great void in an otherwise wonderful life.
LaVerne was a proud graduate of Trevorton High School and served in the Navy at the end of World War II.
He retired from FMC Corporation after a long career in March of 1990, having worked his way through the ranks from lab technician to chemist. LaVerne attributed his later success to having learn the required life lesson of hard work and dedication while working for his grandfather's lumber company, Tressler Lumber.
He was a member of St. Mark Lutheran Church, Elysburg, and a life member of the American Legion Post 92, Trevorton.
He is survived by one brother, Lynn Tressler and his wife Marilyn; one devoted nephew and confidant, Rahn Tressler of Millersburg.He also enjoyed the company and support of 3 nieces and 3 nephews.
In addition to his twin brother Lamar, he was preceded in death by his oldest brother, J. Norman "Joe" Tressler.
A viewing will be held from 10 to 11 a.m. Friday at the Robert G. Foust Jr. Funeral Home, 841 W. Shamokin St., Trevorton, followed by the funeral at 11, with the Rev. MarthaSue Moll officiating.
Burial will be in St. Peter's Blue Church Cemetery, Paxinos.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in LaVerne's memory may be made to Saint Mark Lutheran Church, 225 N. Market St., Elysburg, PA 17824.
