Laura Ann Haugdahl, 59, of 22 S. Grant St., Shamokin, passed away Wednesday, Sept. 6, 2017, at Geisinger Medical Center, Danville, after a short illness.
She was born April 30, 1958, in Jacksonville, Fla., a daughter of Sigurd W. Haugdahl, of Keystone Heights, Fla., and Patricia A. (Register) Haugdahl, of Pembroke Pines, Fla.
Laura was a 1976 graduate of McArthur High School in Hollywood, Fla., and attended Broward Community College, also in Hollywood, Fla.
She lived the early part of her life in Florida. Since 2009 she had resided in the Shamokin area.
Most recently she was employed as a medical laboratory technician at the Sunbury Community Hospital. She also had worked for the Geisinger Health System, and worked during the summer months at Knoebels.
She was of the Catholic faith.
Laura was an avid reader. She also enjoyed gardening, doing crafts and scrapbooking. She loved and cared for animals. She enjoyed meeting and talking with people, and helping anyone in need.
Survivors in addition to her parents, include a son, Aiden Alexander Stine, a daughter, Alaina Marie Stine, and their father, Lucas Stine, of Bloomsburg, Pa.; two brothers, Sigurd W. Haugdahl Jr., of Pembroke Pines, Fla., and Michael B. Haugdahl, of Keystone Heights, Fla.; a sister, Linda M. Haugdahl-Schainberg and Brent, of Pembroke Pines, Fla.; six nieces and nephews; a dear friend, John Wallish, of Coal Township, Pa.; and her faithful companions, her Lhasa Apsos, "Jake and GiGi", and her cat, "Pumpkin Princess".
Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, Sept. 15, 2017, at the Stephen A. Chowka Funeral Home, 114 N. Shamokin St., Shamokin, followed by the funeral service at 7 p.m. with the Rev. Martin Kobos presiding.
In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made in her memory to Mother Cabrini Church, 214 N. Shamokin St., Shamokin, PA 17872.
