Larry's Story

Larry A. Michael, 77, of Shamokin Dam, and long-time resident of Northumberland, passed away Monday, September 11, 2017, at the Geisinger Medical Center, Danville.
He was born January 9, 1940, in Sunbury, a son of the late A. E. and Lorraine (Bugnand) Michael. On September 19, 1958, he married the former Nancy Wolfe who preceded him in death February 26, 1998.
Larry was a 1958 graduate of Northumberland High School.
He retired after 16½ years of service from Conagra Foods and was a member of the Local Teamsters Union.
Larry was of the Lutheran Faith.
He was involved in many community organizations including Eureka Lodge 404 Free & Accepted Masons, Loyal Order of Moose Lodge 897, Northumberland, later 1173, Selinsgrove, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 8298, Northumberland, later #6631, Selinsgrove, a life member of Northumberland Fire Company No. 1 and the Northumberland Hook & Ladder Fire Company.
His free time was spent hunting and fishing as well as pursuing family genealogy. His most enjoyable time was spent with his family.
Larry is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Jon D. and Angela L. Michael, of Shamokin Dam; one daughter, Jody L. Herrold, of Sunbury; one grandson and his wife, Benjamin M. F. and Tesla L. Herrold, of Sunbury; two great-grandchildren, Makya L. and Grayson D. Michael; one sister and brother-in-law, Ruby and Dave Nace, of Selinsgrove.
He was preceded in death by one grandson, Cody A. Michael on Sept. 29, 2016.
A private service will be held at a later date.
Arrangements are by the Joseph W. Epler Funeral Home, 210 King St., Northumberland.
