Laree H. Ritter

Laree H. Ritter, 98, of Beavertown, passed over to Glory on Sunday, Sept. 1, 2019, at her home.
She was born April 6, 1921, a daughter of the late J. Wilmer and Gertrude Aigler. On May 3, 1940, she married R. Stanley Ritter who survives. This past May they celebrated their 79th wedding anniversary.

Laree was a graduate of Beaver Vocational High School.
After marriage, she worked at the Beavertown Shirt Factory and then relocated to Allentown where their first child was born. Soon after they returned to Beavertown. During World War II, they spent some time in Norfolk, Va., where Stan was stationed in the Navy. After returning to Beavertown, Laree began working for the Middleburg Potato Chip Factory in 1945. She later worked at WSHS as a cashier, then as a bookkeeper at Super Service Garage, finally retiring from Erdley's Grocery Store in Paxtonville.
Laree was an active member of the Beavertown Home and School Club for many years, working at the playground during summer sessions, and at the voting polls from 1959-1963. She was also a member of the Beavertown United Methodist Church where in her younger years she sang in the choir, and throughout her life was involved in many of the activities of the church.

She is survived by one daughter, Carole Jones of Oakland, Calif.; one son and daughter-in-law, Delmar and Colleen Ritter of Middleburg; four grandchildren, Becky Yost McCoy, Nathan Yost, Kyle Ritter, and Kirk Ritter; five great-grandchildren, Tristan, Olivia, Gretchen, Savannah, and Jackson Ritter; one nephew, James W. Aigler; and two nieces, Judith D. Aigler Wolfe and Gloria A. Aigler Simons.
She was preceded in death by one brother, Thomas Aigler.

Friends and relatives will be received from 10 to 11:30 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 7, at the Beavertown United Methodist Church, followed by the funeral at 11:30.
Burial will follow in Cedar Hill Cemetery, Beavertown.
Arrangements are by the Pheasant Funeral Home, 130 S. Zechman St., Beavertown.
