Kenneth L. Heller Sr., 65, of Sunbury, passed away Oct. 7, 2017, at his home.
He was born Sept. 4, 1952, in Sunbury, a son of the late Francis and Ada Heller. On March 31, 1977, he married the former Sharon Jones of Kingston, N.Y., who survives.
Ken attended Sunbury schools and later served in the Army, the Marines and the National Guard.
He was employed at Paulsen Wire Rope Company for more than 20 years and later drove for Paul's Cab for 15 years. He fully retired in July of this year.
He was a life member of the East End Hose Company and the Point Township Fire Company.
Ken was never rich, but he was a proud family man. He made no attempts to save the world, but to many he was a hero. He was a kind soul who took care of anyone in need. He always tried to make a difference in people's lives and he was successful in that attempt. He was a pal, a buddy and a best friend to many. We are all blessed for having known him and it was a great honor to have shared his life. We are each a little better for having known him. Ken's greatest joy in life was his family. He especially adored his grandchildren and elated in their accomplishments. He will be dearly missed by more than he ever could have known.
In addition to his wife of 40 years, he is survived by his children and their spouses, Tammy Tapp, of Vicksburg, Miss., Kelly and Graig Waisley, of Erie, Kenneth Jr. and Brandy Heller, of Sunbury, and Tara and Charlie Michael, of Sunbury; seven siblings and their spouses, Robert Heller, of Sunbury, Margaret and Clifford Smith, of Camp Hill, Shirley Mowery, of Sunbury, Darlene Mowery, of Shamokin Dam, Gary and Donna Heller, of Illinois, Sheila Arnold, of Sunbury, Debra and Elmer Danley Sr., of Northumberland; and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
