Kathryn E. Thomas, 85, of Wetzel Avenue, Beavertown, passed away on Thursday, March 1, 2018, at her home surrounded by her family.
She was born March 8, 1932, in Shamokin, a daughter of the late John A. and Ethel I. (Hummel) Kashner. She was married to Richard E. Thomas who preceded her in death in 2007.
Kathryn attended Shamokin Area schools.
She had previously been employed at Shroyer's Dress Factory in Shamokin, Mandata Poultry, the Boone Nursing Home and also the Orangeville Nursing Home.
Kathryn attended Port Ann Wesleyan Church.
In her spare time she enjoyed bird watching and playing games, however, the main love of her life was her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Surviving are her children, Elaine Fox and husband Tim, Leelann Thomas and wife Janice, Barbara Thomas, Annette Woodruff, Beth Freed and husband Ronald, Robert Thomas, and Gwendolyn Straub and husband Rodney; one sister, Lois Kashner; 22 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren and one expecting; and three great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death, in addition to her husband and parents, by one sister, Edith Hummel; one brother, Lamar Kashner; one infant son and daughter, Elizabeth Thomas and Marshall Thomas; one daughter, Donna Newman; one son, Jeffrey Thomas; three sons-in-law, Kent Woodruff, Donald "Butch" Newman and Donald Novinger; one great-granddaughter, Addison Freed; and one great-grandson, Damien Diotte.
Friends and family will be received from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday, March 4, and again from 9 to 10 a.m. Monday at the Port Ann Wesleyan Church, Troxelville Road, where the funeral will be held at 10 a.m. with the Rev. Paul Sheets officiating.
Burial will follow in the Northumberland Memorial Park Cemetery, Stonington.
Arrangements are by the Pheasant Funeral Home, 316 W. Market St., Beavertown.
