Kathryn M. Johnson, 92, of Boalsburg, died Saturday, Dec. 30, 2017, at Centre Crest.
She was born July 9, 1925, in Lewisburg, a daughter of the late Maurice and Mary (Powell) Corey. On Oct. 9, 1943, she married Philip R. Johnson who preceded her in death on June 28, 2005.
Kathryn was a graduate of Lewisburg High School.
She worked as an administrative assistant for the Penn State College of Agriculture until her retirement in 1986.
She was a member of Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church.
Kathryn was an avid golfer. She and her girlfriends would take a yearly spring golfing trip to Myrtle Beach, S.C. In the winter she would enjoy bowling and cross-country skiing with her grandchildren. Kathryn was a member of a poker group that met weekly. In her later years, she was fond of feeding her backyard birds and maintaining her acre of property, mostly by herself. This activity kept her fit and allowed her to enjoy her later years.
She is survived by one son, James P. Johnson, and his wife, Barbara, of State College; one sister, Julia Corey, of Bellefonte; and two grandchildren, Mark Johnson and Sara Grzasko.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at Koch Funeral Home, 2401 S. Atherton St., State College, with Deacon Dave Lopinksy officiating.
Burial will be private.
