Kathryn's Story

Kathryn L. Drought, 89, of Northumberland, passed away on Monday, Sept. 26, 2016, at Nottingham Village, Northumberland, where she had been a resident.
She was born April 23, 1927, in Hyde City, a daughter of the late Cortez "Jinx" and Bessy (Lippert) McCracken. In 1968, she married Basil Drought who preceded her in death in 1985.

Kathryn attended Clearfield County schools.
She was employed with DuPont A&M in Hyde City and later retired from the Spencer Elementary School, Geneva, Ohio, where she worked in the cafeteria.
She was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church, Northumberland, and was active in the Priestley Chapter #423 Order of Eastern Star and the Northumberland/Point Township Senior Action Center.
Kathryn loved to travel and especially enjoyed the trips with her many friends from the senior action center. She also enjoyed the outdoors, camping and fishing.

She is survived by two sons and one daughter-in-law, Richard L. DuFour, of Rome, Ohio, and Thomas G. and Janet Dufour, of Lexington, N.C.; one daughter and son-in-law, Helen L. and William S. Dorman, of Northumberland; five grandchildren, Jimmy, Joey, Tracy, Ricky and Tamie; numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; one sister and brother-in-law, Stancia and Sonny Mullins, of Grampian; and one brother and sister-in-law, Clifford and Ruth Ann McCracken, of Clearfield.
She was preceded in death by one grandson, Stephen Dunbar; seven siblings; and her former husband, George R. DuFour.

Friends and family may call from 1 to 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 8, at the Joseph W. Epler Funeral Home, 210 King St., Northumberland, followed by a memorial service at 2, with the Rev. Clair F. Shaffer officiating.
