Karen Loss

Events

Karen Loss, beloved daughter of Kenneth Loss, of Lewisburg, Pa., and the late Geraldine Loss, passed away peacefully in Falls Church, Va., on June 8, 2019. She was 59 years old.

Karen was born in Lewisburg and grew up in Williamsport. She graduated from Susquehanna University as a music major in 1981.
She lived in southern California and worked for Lockheed for several years before returning to the east coast and Virginia where she spent the last 25 years, most of them in northern Virginia. She ran her own pet sitting business, was a tour guide in Washington, D.C., and spent some years with the MITRE Corporation.

She traveled extensively, both across the U.S. and around the world. She supported five children through Compassion International, a Christian organization she highly believed in.

She became a fierce advocate and well regarded speaker for lung cancer research and education when she was diagnosed in 2012. She beat the odds of survival for 6½ years, and she will be sorely missed by many who knew and loved her.

She is survived by her brother, Douglas Loss (Ruby Loss), of Maryville, Tenn.; sisters, Jo Saltzman (Ron Saltzman), of Coatesville, Pa., and Susan Laidacker (David Laidacker), of Danville, Pa.; three nephews, Tim Fargus, Jon Laidacker, and Stefan Loss; and one niece, Laura Moore.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, June 22 in Marlow Hall at the RiverWoods Nursing Home, 15 Ridgecrest Circle, Lewisburg.
