June's Story

June L Gover, 92, of Sunbury, passed away at her home on Friday, May 27, 2016.

June was born July 19, 1924, in Sunbury, a daughter of the late Guy and Myrtle (Bahner) McCollum. On June 30, 1945, she married Charles L. "Bud" Gover, Jr., who passed away on Oct. 1, 2000.

She graduated from Sunbury High School in 1942.

While in high school, June worked for her aunt, Marjorie Fetter at Fetter's Shop on Market Street in Sunbury. Upon graduation and during World War II, June worked for Western Union in Annapolis, then with Westinghouse until they closed the Sunbury location. She was then employed by Ken Peifer Insurance as a secretary and did secretarial work for Brooker Amusements which her husband purchased in 1967.

She was a member of Grace Lutheran Church.

June loved animals, crocheting, and making rugs. She was a world traveler with her traveling companion Nancy Carl, visiting her favorite countries: Egypt, China and India. She loved cutting her three acres of grass on her modified mower.

June is survived by her daughters, Loye and her husband Philip Hallden, of Northumberland and Leanne Gover and her husband Rick Enterline, of Sunbury; three grandchildren, Mathew Hallden, Timothy Hallden, and Giselle Hallden; one great-grandson, Mason Hallden; and one nephew, Mike McCollum.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; brother, Edwin McCollum; and a niece.

A private graveside service will be at the convenience of the family.
