Joyce I. Reed, 78, of Upper Road, Shamokin, passed away Thursday, Jan. 18, 2018, at The Milton Rehabilitation and Nursing Center. She lived most of her life in East Cameron Township.
She was born April 16, 1939, in West Cameron Township, a daughter of the late Harry H. and Irene M. (Long) Erdman. Joyce was married on Feb. 14, 1959, in Bethel Union Chapel, West Cameron, to James A. Reed who survives.
Joyce was a graduate of Trevorton High School. She retired as an aide assistant from the Selinsgrove State Center. She was an active member of Trevorton United Methodist Church, and a life member of East Cameron Township Fire Company.
Surviving in addition to her husband James are one daughter, Jill Clare and husband Ray, of Lancaster; three sons, James Reed Jr. and wife Ellen, of West Cameron Township, Jerry Reed and wife Sue, of East Cameron Township, and Joe Reed and wife Gina, of Northumberland; 10 grandchildren, Alexandria Mark and husband Robert, Taylor Reed, Madison Reed, Brandon Clare and wife Amanda, Melissa Markley and husband Adam, Essie Reed-Schrader and husband Doug, Eliza Reed, Sarah Reed, Jacob Reed, and Megan Reed; six great-grandchildren, Alexis Markley, Caleb Markley, Andrea Clare, Wyatt Clare, Lily Clare, and Baby Mark. Also surviving are three sisters, Betty Schroyer and husband George, of Montoursville, Harriet Kinder and husband Douglas, of Lexington, S.C., and Daisy Lahr and husband Norman, of Sunbury; three brothers, Ted Erdman and wife Arlene, of West Cameron Township, Herbert Erdman and wife Beatrice, of Milton, and Harry Erdman and wife Kimberly, of Schuylkill Haven; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A viewing will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday, Jan. 22, at the Trevorton United Methodist Church, Sixth and Shamokin streets, Trevorton, and again from 10 to 11 a.m. Tuesday, followed by the funeral service at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Beverly Petrovich officiating.
Burial will be in Northumberland Memorial Park Cemetery, Stonington.
