John P. "Jack" Wolfe, 73, of Selinsgrove, passed away Friday, Dec. 8, 2017, at Geisinger Medical Center, Danville. He had been ill for the past nine months.
He was born July 11, 1944, in Ashland, a son of the late John R. and Margaret (Patti) Wolfe.
Jack was a 1961 graduate of the former St. Edward's High School.
Shortly after his high school graduation he enlisted in the United States Air Force. He enlisted on July 27, 1962, and served during the Vietnam Era. He was awarded his honorable discharge on March 3, 1966.
On June 3, 1985, he married Claudia Trout, who survives.
Jack was employed as a residential service aide at the Selinsgrove Center, until his retirement.
He was of the Catholic faith.
Jack was an avid Philadelphia Phillies and Eagles fan. He also enjoyed watching Penn State football.
Some of his happiest times were spent at his home, overlooking Penn's Creek.
He will be dearly missed by his family, which in addition to his wife Claudia, include two sons, David Wolfe and his wife Patti, of Shamokin, and Matthew Wolfe and his wife Chandra, of Pasadena, Md.; a step-son, Joseph Schweitzer, of Selinsgrove; a step-daughter, Deanna Reed and her husband Derk, of Bloomsburg; five grandchildren, Rylan Wolfe, Darbee and Mitchell Reed, and Tristin and Kadin Sudia; a brother, Robert J. Wolfe and his wife Patty, of Coal Township; nieces and nephews; and his buddy "Jack", his cat.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Michael E. Wolfe.
A viewing will be held from 9 to 10 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 13, at the Stephen A. Chowka Funeral Home, 114 N. Shamokin St., Shamokin, followed by the funeral service at 10 a.m. with a Franciscan Friar from Mother Cabrini Parish presiding.
Interment will follow in Northumberland Memorial Park, Stonington.
