John C. Krahel II, 76, of Beavertown, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Friday afternoon, Nov. 17, 2017, at his home.
He was born Dec. 12, 1940, a son of the late John C. and Mary (Kessler) Krahel. On Aug. 9, 1961, he married Phyllis A. (McCormick) Krahel who survives. This year they celebrated their 56th wedding anniversary.
He had served in the Army for three years until he was honorably discharged. He later worked at Kinney Shoes, Poloron, Houser Homes, Ritz Craft and ended up at the Middleburg Golf Course where he later retired.
John enjoyed going to the casinos, hunting and fishing, playing darts in his younger years, and he was especially fond of his poodle Bridgette. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 5640.
Surviving in addition to his wife Phyllis, are two sisters, Helen M. Treas and Dorothie J. Hummel and husband Harry; one brother, Robert E. and wife Teresa; four sons, Ronald E. Krahel and wife Vicky, Lynee D. Krahel, Lewis B. Krahel and wife Deb, and John C. Krahel and wife Pam; one daughter, Michele L.; eight grandchildren, Felicia, JC, Ashley, Bret and Austin Krahel, Lester and Brittany Cunningham and Alisha Cox; and five great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by two brothers, Edward S. and Ronald E. Krahel; and one great-grandson, Braydon M.E. Krahel.
Arrangements are by the Pheasant Funeral Home, 316 W. Market St., Beavertown.
