John H. Hanson Jr., 86, of Milton, passed away on July 4, 2017, at the Milton Nursing and Rehab Center.
He was born Oct. 20, 1930, in Milton, a son of the late John H. Sr. and Nellie Follmer Ditzler Hanson.
John was a 1948 graduate of Milton High School and served in the Pennsylvania National Guard as a Battalion Motor sergeant. He was activated into the Army, serving in Germany during the occupation after World War II.
He was employed as a marketing representative for PG&W for 29 years, retiring in 1991.
John was a member of the American Legion Post 71, the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1665, the 40&8, all of Milton, several train collectors associations, the PG&W Employees Credit Union Board, and the Milton Borough Council, where he was a former president.
He is survived by one son, Jack Hanson, of Fort Washington; four daughters and one son-in-law, Cathy and Raymond Buch, of Reading, Nancy Lou Lyons, of Tobyhanna, Rose Jefferies, of Camp Hill, and Mary Hanson, of Milton; four grandchildren, Kyle Jefferies, Gregory Gerace, Tori Buch, and Benjamin Hanson; and his former wife, Nancy Bogle Hanson, of Milton.
John was preceded in death by one son, Joseph Hanson.
Military graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, July 12, in Harmony Cemetery, Milton.
