John "Jack" Boyle Sr., 61, of Sunbury, passed away Friday, Dec. 22, 2017, at his Sunbury home.
He was born in March 11, 1956, in Shamokin, a son of Alberta Mihalik Boyle, of Sunbury, and the late Carl Boyle Sr.
Jack was a 1974 graduate of Shikellamy High School.
He was employed by UGI (formally Pennsylvania Gas and Water) for more than 40 years.
Jack was a community volunteer coaching children's baseball and softball for more than 30 years in Sunbury. He spent countless hours on the John O. Long fields and helped dozens of Sunbury's youth learn to play the game he loved. His community service was only surpassed by his smile, sense of humor, generosity, and willingness to help others no matter the need.
In addition to his mother, he is survived by his son, John Boyle Jr., of Seattle, Wash.; his daughter, Jennifer Boyle, of Savoy, Ill.; his brother, Carl Boyle Jr., of Willow Street; and his sister, Molly Boyle, or Washington, D.C.
Friends will be received from 1 to 2 p.m. Saturday at the Jerre Wirt Blank Funeral Home, 395 State St., Sunbury, followed by a memorial service at 2.
