Joan L.P. Moyer, 82, of Moyers Road, Middleburg, passed away on Thursday morning, Jan. 11, 2018, at her home.
She was born March 20, 1935, in Adams Township, Snyder County, a daughter of the late John J. and Beulah A. (Sanders) Gearhart. On March 28, 1957, she married Richard E. Moyer who preceded her in death on Feb. 3, 1981.
Joan was a 1954 graduate of Beaver Vocational High School.
She had been employed at Par Knit Mills, Mifflinburg, the Viscose, Lewistown, and retired in 1997 from the Selinsgrove Center where she was an aide.
She was a member of Zion Methodist Church, Middleburg, a former member of the Ramblers Club and the Middleburg Retirees.
Joan enjoyed embroidery.
She is survived by one daughter Jacqueline D. Moyer, and her companion, Charlie Wells; one grandson, Donald Moyer; and great-grandson, Levi. She and her husband had raised five foster children.
She was preceded in death by one sister, Margie in infancy.
Friends and family will be received from 1 to 2 p.m. Monday at the Hummel Funeral Home, 574 Hill St., Middleburg, followed by the funeral at 2, with Pastor Tim Reich officiating.
Burial will be in the Troxelville Union Cemetery.
