Joan's Story

Joan Lucille George, 83, of Milton, passed away Wednesday, Jan, 17, 2018, at The Gatehouse in Divine Providence Hospital, Williamsport.

Born in Dewart on July 3, 1934, she was a daughter of the late Charles and Helen (Riffel) Kieser.

Joan was a 1952 graduate of Milton High School. She was employed at Milton Trust and Safe Deposit Bank and Beeline Home Fashions.

She was a fantastic cook who loved to entertain her family and friends. She cherished spending time with her beloved grandchildren. Joan loved spending time with her family at their vacation home in New Jersey. She enjoyed playing cards and was a member of several card clubs. She was a former member of G.F.W.C. Womans Club of Milton.

She is survived by her husband of 59 years, Richard L. George; two daughters, Tina M. Coates and husband Joseph, of Danville, and Wendy L. Brown, of New Columbia; three grandchildren, Kimberly Kieser Ness, Nicholas R. Herbst, and Jacob R. Brown; and her sister, Barbara K. Campbell, of Milton.

She was preceded in death by her beloved son Charles (Chuck) Kieser.

Friends and relatives will be received from 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 20, at Bethany United Methodist Church, 107 S. Front St., Milton, where funeral services will begin at 11 a.m. with the Rev. William L. McNeal officiating.

Burial will follow in Milton Cemetery.

The family wishes to extend their gratitude to The Gatehouse Hospice at Divine Providence Hospital for their caring support in her final days.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Joan's name may be made to the Janet Weis Children's Hospital, 400 N. Academy Ave., Danville PA 17822.

Arrangements are under the care of the Shaw Funeral Home, 400 N. Front St., Milton.
