She also graduated from Leadership Susquehanna Valley and participated in Penn State's PA Rural Leadership Program.
After college, Jill's love of nature and animals took her to North Carolina at the YMCA's Camp Sea Gull, where she enjoyed serving as a naturalist educator sharing her knowledge of and love for nature with numerous elementary school children. Jill subsequently worked for University of Florida in the Florida Everglades studying the endangered Everglade snail kite. She helped with field research at Archbold Biological Station, which resulted in a publication on Florida Scrub fire ecology co-authored with her father in 1996. During her 14 years at Bucknell, Jill planned alumni events and directed Bucknell's alumni travel program. She loved to travel and one of her favorite travel programs was to Ecuador's Galapagos Islands and Peru's Machu Picchu, a trip that she co-led with her biology professor father. Jill also shared several alumni trips with her husband to Italy, the Baltic region, and more.
Jill had great empathy and compassion for people. While at Gettysburg College, she was deeply involved in the effort to bring the AIDS quilt to Gettysburg. In 2014, Jill founded with her mother, a Lewisburg chapter of Jewelry Shop for Mom. They gathered donated jewelry and created matched sets, which were provided to the Valley's Head Start children to gift to their mother on Mother's Day.
