Jean Carolyn (Hinkle) Woodruff, 78, of Danville, Pa., died at her home unexpectedly on Monday, Feb. 5, 2018.
She was born on July 19, 1939, in Gilberton, Pa.
She graduated from Central High School in 1958, and worked at Roslyn Yarns and Weis. She was a member of St. John's "Vought's" Lutheran Church in Danville since 1961, when she married her husband, the late Vernon Woodruff.
She was a loving wife and consummate homemaker, caring for her three children. Her friends and family will always remember her as a caring and sweet lady with a tremenous amount of love. She loved to quilt, crochet, cook, bake, sew, and loved taking care of the calves on their family farm. She was very involved in the community, and was a member of the Red Hat Society and the TOPS - Take Off Pounds Sensibly Club. She loved to spend time with family and adored every minute with all of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
In addition to her husband, Vernon, she was preceded in death by her father, Joseph Hinkle and stepmother, Clara.
She is survived by two sons, Mark Woodruff of Danville, Barry Woodruff and wife, Michelle Malkoski-Woodruff of Danville; one daughter, Felicia Woodruff-Kooken and husband, Robbie of Texas; six grandchildren, Michael, Matthew, Megan, Shelly, Amber, Chad; thirteen great-grandchildren; and one brother, Albert Hinkle.
She will also be missed by Jean Dower and her best friend, Frances Shultz.
At Jean's request, there will be no viewing. Friends may visit from 9 to 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 17 at St. John's "Vought's" Lutheran Church, 59 High Road, Danville, followed by the funeral at 11, with Rev. Martha Sue Moll officiating.
Burial will follow at the St. John's "Vought's" Lutheran Cemetery.
