Jason T. Matrey, 32, of King Street, Northumberland, passed away peacefully in his sleep on Friday, Jan. 19, 2018.
He was born Aug. 16, 1985, in Sunbury, a son of Tammy C. (Savidge) Matrey, of Montandon.
Jason attended Shikellamy High School.
He was previously employed by Zartman Construction, Northumberland, and Celotex, Sunbury, and most recently owned and operated Matrey Construction.
He was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church, Northumberland.
Jason will be remembered for his love of the outdoors, hunting, fishing, and camping with his family. He enjoyed riding anything from four wheelers to Harley Davidsons. He also enjoyed working out and lifting weights. His greatest joy, however, came from spending time with his family, especially his children.
In addition to his mother, Jason is survived by his fiance' of 16 years and the mother of his three children, Latisha M. Swanger; his children, Mariah S., Madyson S. and Jaxin P. Matrey, all of Northumberland; his brother, Jeremy M. Kessler, of Selinsgrove; his maternal grandmother, Barbara L. Savidge, of Shamokin Dam; uncle and aunt, Christopher Savidge and Joan Brooks, of Northumberland; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Jason was preceded in death by his brothers, Colton L. Matrey and Clayton C. Kessler III; maternal grandfather, Richard C. Savidge; and maternal and paternal great-grandparents.
Friends and family may visit from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday at St. John's Lutheran Church, 300 Queen St., Northumberland, followed by the funeral at 7, with the Rev. Patricia Pittsnogle officiating.
A private burial will be held in Riverview Cemetery.
Arrangements are by the Joseph W. Epler Funeral Home, 210 King St., Northumberland.
