Jane Louise Solomon


Jane Louise Solomon, 88, of New Berlin, entered into rest at 12:35 a.m., Aug. 17, 2018, at Buffalo Valley Lutheran Village, Lewisburg. She was born Nov. 16, 1929, in New Berlin, a daughter of the late George and Myrtle (Geise) Wetzel. On Sept. 23, 1950, in New Berlin, she married Donald O. Solomon who preceded her in death in 2002. Jane was a graduate of Lewisburg High School. When she was employed, she held various clerical positions up until her retirement. Jane attended the Messiah Evangelical Lutheran Church, New Berlin, where she served as the secretary and treasurer for approximately 30 years. She also taught Sunday school and sang in the church choir. Jane was a member of the WELCA at church, the XYZ Club, the Red Hats, and the Ladies Auxiliary of the New Berlin Fire Company. Jane loved to be in the dirt barefoot tending to her garden, was an avid reader, and was quite the card player. Surviving are one son, Jeffrey Solomon of Milton; one daughter and son-in-law, Teresa Solomon and Owen Murphy of New Orleans, La.; one brother, Donald Wetzel of New Berlin; one sister, Carole Jacka of Mifflinburg; and two grandchildren, Matthew D. Solomon of Milton and Sonya Solomon Murphy of New Orleans. She was preceded in death by one son, Craig E. Solomon; one daughter-in-law, Barbara E. Solomon; two brothers, George E. Wetzel Jr. and Jack E. Wetzel; and three sisters, Mary Ann Wetzel, Kathryn M. Attinger, and Bonita L. Oberdorf. Family and friends are welcome from 10 to 11 a.m. Wednesday at Messiah Evangelical Lutheran Church, 308 Market St., New Berlin, followed by the funeral at 11, with the Rev. Rick White, officiating.
