James A. McKinney, 82, of Chestnut Street, Sunbury, passed away at the Williamsport Hospital on Feb. 15, 2018.
He was born in Sunbury on Feb. 1, 1936, the son of the late William A. and Florence A. (Oyster) McKinney.
He graduated Sunbury High School in 1954.
On Aug. 7, 1955, he married Barbara A. Lewis.
He was a dedicated employee of Weis Markets for 39 years, working at the Market Street location. Jim delighted in volunteering in his community, including Sunbury Community Hospital, Meals on Wheels, as well as calling bingo and spending time with people at Manor Care. He was known in the community for his homemade candy and peanut brittle. He was an active member of the Faith United Methodist Church, Sunbury.
Jim is survived by his children, Candace A. and Steve Willard, of Paxinos, Randal A. and Crystale McKinney, of Linglestown, and Todd A. and Stephanie McKinney, of Sunbury; five grandchildren, Katie, Lauren, David, Nicholas, and Ashleigh; two great-grandchildren, Lila and Emily; and his loving companion, Kay Minier.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Barbara A. McKinney; and brother, William A. McKinney.
Friends and family may visit at 9 a.m. Saturday, at the David T. Zweier Funeral Home, Inc., 157 Chestnut St., Sunbury, followed by the memorial service at 11, with the Rev. Ronald Troup officiating.
Interment will follow in the Pomfret Manor Cemetery, Sunbury.
