James Leonard Bason


James Leonard Bason, 82, of Northumberland, passed away on Feb 6, 2019.
Known to those that loved him as Jim, he was the eldest son of Madalyn and Leonard Bason, born April 11, 1936, in Bloomsburg.

Upon graduating from Bloomsburg High School, he spent four years as a medic in the Air Force then graduated with a degree in electrical engineering from Penn State University.
His career was based in production management in the snack food industry.

Jim was preceded in death by his wife of nearly 50 years, Darl Charlotte Robbins who passed away in 2006. Together they had three daughters and seven grandchildren.

Jim is survived by his three daughters, Lynndee Reid-Strumpf of Port Orange, Fla., Dr. Lori Bason-Ferdock of Zionsville, and Lisa Hicks of Somerset; one brother, Dr. Larry Bason of Lock Haven; seven grandchildren, Brittany Reid-Leahy, Logan Thomas James Reid, Andrew James Ferdock, Madelyn Robbin Ferdock, Vincent Ronald Ferdock, Jocelyn Lorene Hicks and Ian Christopher Hicks; and two nephews, Brad and Steven Bason.

A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 9, at the Zweier Funeral Home, 157 Chestnut St., Sunbury.
Burial will be held privately at a later date.

The family would like to publicly announce their immense gratitude to the staff at Nottingham Village for their expert care and compassion but most especially to Anna Crawford for bringing so much peace and comfort to Jim in his final days.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in honor of James to the Spirit Fund of The Burn Prevention Foundation, 236 N. 17th St., Allentown, PA 18104, to help alleviate pain for those suffering severe burn injuries.

To Jim’s loved ones,
May you sense the loving arms that held him close, holding you closely at this time of sadness. For us sadness but, for Jim it’s a time of rejoicing as he’s in a better place.
I know he is at home in heaven. No more suffering.

Lori and Jim's family... I was saddened to hear that your Dad passed away. I met Jim on several occasions and remember him fondly. Nothing can prepare you for a loss. The Gilbert family extends our sincere condolences to you.
