Helen L. Huff, 89, passed away Friday, Feb. 9, 2018, at Londonderry Village, Palmyra.
She was born July 15, 1928, in Campbelltown, a daughter of the late Harvey S. and Emily May (Snavely) Lineaweaver. She was the widow of Hampton D. "Bud" Huff, to whom she was married for 55 years.
A 1946 graduate of Hershey High School, Helen went on to earn a degree from the Central Penn Business School and her bachelor's degree from Penn State University. At Penn State, she was proud to be one of the Famous 500 (the first female class admitted to PSU after World War II).
Helen worked as an administrative assistant and was employed for many years at the University of Connecticut. Following retirement, she returned to Freeburg.
Helen was a member and adviser of the Delta Zeta Sorority, a member of the Sigma Alpha Iota Music Fraternity, and a member of the American Association of University Women. Helen had a great love of music. She enjoyed singing in various church choirs, playing the piano and organ, performing as a soprano with the Susquehanna Valley Chorale in Selinsgrove, attending the Berkshire Choral Festival in Massachusetts each year, and most recently singing with the Harmonettes at Lebanon Valley Brethren Home.
Her faith and the church were also very important to Helen, who was an active church member her entire life; attending, among others, the First Baptist Church of Mansfield, Conn., St. Paul's United Church of Christ, Selinsgrove, and most recently Trinity United Church of Christ, Palmyra.
Helen also loved traveling to many destinations throughout the world, including various countries in Europe and the Middle East. Like her father, Helen loved to take pictures of her family, friends, and places she had been.
Surviving are her daughters, Martha E. Huff, wife of Richard Koenig of Trappe, Betsy H., wife of Joe Albright of Landisburg, and Kate H. Meehan of Aston; brother, George, husband of Lorraine Lineaweaver of Lititz; sister, Esther M., widow of James S. Jenckes of Palmyra; eight grandchildren, Kristen, Rachel, Julia, Alex, Paige, Tori, Colleen, and Neil; son-in-law, Brendan Meehan; nieces and nephews, Skosh Robbins, Beth Jenckes, Kenyon Jenckes, Lloyd Lineaweaver, and Heather Lineaweaver.
She was preceded in death by two brothers, Harold and Donald Lineaweaver.
A visitation will be held from 10 to 11 a.m. Monday at Trinity United Church of Christ, 40 W.Pine St., Palmyra, followed by a memorial service at 11.
Private interment in Tioga Point Cemetery, Athens.
