Harry A. Starr Jr., 90, of Lewisburg, formerly of Minersville and Sunbury, passed away on Tuesday, Oct. 3, 2017, at Lehigh Valley Hospital Schuylkill East, Pottsville.
He was born Dec. 22, 1926, in Minersville, a son of the late Harry Sr. and Freda (Miller) Starr.
Harry was a TEC 5 in the Army having served during World War II. He was a member of the Co B 1629th Engineer Construction Battalion. He received the World War II Victory Ribbon, Asiatic Pacific Theater Ribbon, and the Army Occupation Medal (Japan).
Harry worked in the Laboratory at the Allentown Portland Cement Company in Leesport.
He was a member of the Salvation Army Church in Pottsville.
He is survived by his wife of 33 years, Della "Dee" Davis Craig Starr; three stepchildren, Margie Edison, of White Deer, Dorothy Sargent, of Dunn, N.C., and Edward Craig, of Lewisburg; five grandchildren, Heather Edison, Wendy Santiago, T.J. Edison, Christopher Hagan and Nathaniel Craig; and many great-grandchildren.
He was preceded by two brothers, Robert and Edward Starr; two sisters, Betty Starr and Jean Foley; one stepdaughter, Pauline Craig; and one stepgrandson, Matthew Hagan.
A memorial service will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, the family would prefer contributions in Harry's memory be made to the Salvation Army, 400 Sanderson St., Pottsville, PA 17901.
