Harold "Gunzey" Gonzales, 92, of New Columbia, passed away on Saturday, Jan. 13, 2018, at his home.
He was born July 10, 1925, in Philadelphia, a son of the late Alex and Gertrude Gonzales. He was married to the former Lois Haines for 64 years until her death in 2010.
Gunzey worked in the CCC Camps when he was 14 years old. He served in the Marine Corps during World War II in the South Pacific.
He was an entrepreneur, who with his wife started their first restaurant where "the Fence" drive in is located. They then began Gunzey's Hot Sausage based in Milton. They also owned Gunzey's Mobil Station in West Milton. He retired from the Pennsylvania Railroad where he was a fireman and engineer.
He is survived by one daughter, Theresa West, of New Columbia; one son, Dr. Twain Gonzales, of Lewes, Del.; seven grandchildren, Ralph Gonzales, of Colorado, Ralphiel Rohland, of Port Trevorton, Tris West, of Lewisburg, Todd West, of Columbus, Ohio, Chad Gonzales, of Milton, Taffney Strous, of New Columbia, and Shawna Fiddler, of Milton; and 12 great-grandchildren.
In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by two sons, Terry and Ralph Gonzales; and son-in-law, John West.
Private funeral services will be held at the convenience of the family.
