Grant W. Jarrett, 89, of Sunbury, passed away Friday, Jan. 19, 2018, at the home of his daughter and son-in-law, where he resided for the past four years.
He was born June 9, 1928, in Selinsgrove, a son of the late Edward and Verdilla (Ramer) Jarrett. On July 24, 1954, he married the former Margaret M. Straub who preceded him in death on Jan 11, 2011.
Grant had worked at Philco Ford/Zenith for 26 years until its closing, and for 11 years as a carrier for The Daily Item.
He was a member of Zions Church of Kratzerville.
He enjoyed listening to gospel music as well as polka and Lawrence Welk.
Grant never missed a day of eating pie for breakfast. He will be remembered as a quiet and kind man.
Surviving are one daughter and son-in-law, Gloria and Richard Wertz, of Sunbury; three sons and two daughters-in-law, Eugene and Tina Jarrett, and Dale and Patricia Jarrett, all of Sunbury, and Gary Jarrett, of Milton; four granddaughters, Judy Earnest, Kristy Sands, Shauna Jarrett, and Kelsey Jarrett; and three great-grandchildren, Cameron and Tyler Earnest, and Kenzie Sands.
He was the last of his immediate family and was preceded in death by five brothers, Herman, George, Wilmer, Marlin, and Warren Jarrett; six sisters, Carrie Mull, Lena Jarrett, Florence Jarrett, Edna Shaffer, Iva Jones, and Irene Fetter; and three half-sisters, Elva Foreman, Annie Coleman, and Bessie Ervin.
Friends and family will be received from 10 to 11 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 23, at the V.L. Seebold Funeral Home, 601 N. High St., Selinsgrove, followed by the funeral at 11 a.m. with Pastor Kevin E. Rathmell officiating.
Burial will be in the Zion Reformed Cemetery, Kratzerville.
