Gerald Lewis "Jerry" Foust, 79, formerly of Oak Park, Northumberland, passed away on Monday, Oct. 24, 2016, in RiverWoods, Lewisburg.
He was born Feb. 12, 1937, in Riverside, a son of the late Luther and Ruth (Weaser) Foust. In June of 1956, he married the former Emma Jane Brouse who survives.
Jerry attended Danville schools.
He was employed by Rea and Derick, Inc., Northumberland, and later Gray Drug, of Florida until his retirement in 1987. He was a dedicated employee and loved what he did. He didn't have much time for hobbies because work was his pleasure. Although he greatly enjoyed working outside in the yard and decorating the house for Christmas, he was a perfectionist, so it was always perfect.
He was a member of Christ United Methodist Church, Northumberland and later Christ United Methodist Church, Selinsgrove and had enjoyed singing in the choir.
Jerry was a catcher for both slow and fast pitch in Sunbury and a member of a bowling league in his younger years. He was a Little League umpire for 25 years and loved teaching the kids baseball and sportsmanship. He thoroughly loved spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, enjoying each and every one of them. He also enjoyed spending vacations on the beach with his family.
In additional to his wife, he is survived by his children and their spouses, Connie Jane and Harry Comrey, of Harrisburg, Douglas Lewis and Cathy Foust, of Northumberland, Chris Allen and Tina Foust, of Sunbury; grandchildren, Christina Engle and husband, Scott, Jason Foust, Morgan Foust, Adena Scott and husband Michael, Joshua Foust, Michael Davis and Samantha Davis; great-grandchildren, Grace, Liam, Sienna, Addysyn, Drew, Guiliana, Gabriela, Ruby and Brayden; his sisters and their husbands, Dorothy and Richard Carnahan, Ruth Fry, and Julie and Harry Ward; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Mary and John Wadeck, Nancy and Clayton Witmer, Jeannette and Carl Gebhart, and Frannie Brouse; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by two grandchildren, Kyle Foust and Drew Comrey; one brother, Donald; and two sisters, Bernice and Marguerite.
Friends and family will be received from noon to 1 p.m. Friday at Christ United Methodist Church, Front and King streets, Northumberland, followed by a celebration of Jerry's life at 1, with the Rev. Joan Dodson officiating.
