George S. Lakis, 87, of 3 N. Aspen Place, Lewisburg, passed away Thursday evening, Jan. 4, 2018, at Buffalo Valley Lutheran Village.
A native of Massachusetts, he was born in Cambridge on Nov. 25, 1930, a son of the late Stephen D. Lakis. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Kathryn "Kay" in 2000 after 43 years of marriage, and by his second wife, Rosaline in 2014 after 10 years of marriage.
He received a bachelor of arts degree from Northeastern University in 1953. He was a veteran of the Korean Conflict serving as a First Lieutenant in the Marine Corps receiving the National Defense Service Medal upon discharge in 1955.
He was National Sales Manager for CA Reed, Inc., Williamsport for more than 30 years.
George was a member of the Sacred Heart Church where he served as an usher, the Bucknell Golf Club, was an avid follower of Bucknell athletic teams and was a lifelong Boston sports fan. He loved to travel.
Surviving are four sons, Greg (Karen), Geoff (Amy), Jim (Deb), and David; nine grandchildren, Maggie, Laura (Jeff), Ben (Caroline), Molly, Angie, Hannah, Meredith, Adam and Collin (Holly); three great-grandchildren, Ella, Camden and Kenley; and one sister Erasmia Smith.
A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 13, at Sacred Heart Church, Lewisburg, with the Rev. Mark Wilke as celebrant.
Burial will be at the convenience of the family.
The family will provide flowers and asks that donations be made to either the American Cancer Society or Buffalo Valley Lutheran Village.
Funeral arrangements are by the John H. Shaw III Funeral Home, Market and Eighth streets, Lewisburg.
