Gene  Maturani

Gene Maturani, 84, of Milton, passed away on Tuesday, June 11, 2019, at the Evangelical Community Hospital, Lewisburg.

He was born Nov. 17, 1934, in Milton, a son of the late Antonio and Vitalina (Di Natale) Maturani. On July 2, 1955, Gene married his high school sweetheart, Shirley A. Rearick, who survives. They celebrated 63 years of marriage together last year.

Gene was a plant manager for Milton Regional Sewer Authority and retired in 1998 after 22 yearsof service.
He had many interest which included being a huge Alabama football fan and reading about the Civil War and World War II. Gene was a part of the very first Little League World Series game in 1947 in which he pitched a no hitter. Most of all he adored his grandchildren and was always there to watch them play sports.

In addition to his wife, Gene is survived by one son, Geno A. Maturani and his partner, Michael Lupo, both of Middleburg; one daughter, Leslie Yocum and her partner Jay Buck, both of Milton; three grandchildren, Lance Yocum of Mifflinburg, Aubrey and her husband Bristol Marunde of Henderson, Nev., and Christopher Buck of Milton; three great-grandchildren, Peyton Yocum, Kale Marunde, and Kane Marunde; and one sister, Rose Reedy of New Jersey.

In addition to his parents, Gene was preceded in death by two brothers, Joseph and John Maturani.

All services for Gene are being held privately at the convenience of the family.

Arrangements are being handled by Dale Ranck Cremation & Funeral Care, 125 N. Front St., Milton.
