Gary E. Aucker, 80, of Selinsgrove, passed away on Monday, Feb. 12, 2018, at the Manor at Penn Village, Selinsgrove.
He was born Dec. 27, 1937, in Washington Township, Snyder County, a son of the late Nevin S. and Esther M. (Boyer) Aucker. On April 6, 1957, he married the former Rita I. Troup who survives.
Gary was a 1955 graduate of Selinsgrove High School and a 1959 graduate of Susquehanna University earning a degree in mathematics.
Gary became a teacher and taught school in Lykens and later at Upper Dauphin School District for 41 years.
He was a member of Sharon Lutheran Church, Selinsgrove.
Gary devoted most of his time to family, community, and church. When his grandchildren were born, he rarely missed any of their activities. He always loved to have his family at his home for meals and events.
In addition to his wife of 60 years, he is survived by three sons and daughters-in-law, Andrew E. Aucker and Deana Miller, A. Daniel and Tana Shaffer-Aucker, Eric T. and Jodee Aucker, all of Selinsgrove; six grandchildren, Sara Aucker, Molly Aucker, Corrinne Hoke and husband Alex, Garritt Aucker, Nora Aucker, and Rita Aucker; and one brother, Richard L. Aucker, of Shamokin Dam.
A viewing will be held from 9 to 11 a.m. Saturday at Sharon Lutheran Church, 120 S. Market St., Selinsgrove, followed by the funeral at 11, with the Rev. Robert P. Doll officiating.
Burial will be in St. John's Lutheran Cemetery, Mount Pleasant Mills.
Contributions to honor Gary's memory may bemade to Sharon Lutheran Church.
The family would like to thank all the nurses and staff at both Geisinger Medical Center and the Manor at Penn Village for their kindness and compassion during his time with them.
