Frederick Lewis Lenig Sr., 96, of Liverpool, passed away on Tuesday, Aug. 20, 2019, at the Manor at Penn Village, Selinsgrove.
He was born March 21, 1923, in Port Trevorton, a son of the late William L. and Dora May (Leese) Lenig. On Aug. 16, 1947, he married the former Marian Louise Sprenkle who preceded him in death on Feb. 2, 1989. They resided in Selinsgrove where they raised their family.

Shortly after his military service he worked as an autobody repairman. He was in that occupation for more than 35 years. He continued to work part time at the Shade Mountain Golf Course in Middleburg until he was 90 years old.
He was very involved in his community. He was a Little League coach, a Boy Scout Leader and had a big part in getting the Selinsgrove Community Pool started. He was also a member of the American Legion Post 0025.
Fred enjoyed golfing with his son. He also looked forward to visiting his son in New Mexico and trips to visit his daughter, especially at Thanksgiving. He also enjoyed the times he spent with the Taylor family, especially at Christmas. He took pride in making everything just right in his flower beds.

Fred is survived by his two sons and daughters-in-law, Frederick Lewis Jr. and Lisa Lenig and Ronald Scott and Kim Lenig; his daughter Louise Ann Evans; three granddaughters, Meghaan Elizabeth Evans, Jessica Christine Long and Emily Janelle Lenig; one great-grandson, Cooper Alan Long, and a great-grandchild to be born to granddaughter Meghaan Evans this November; and one sister, Betty Roxanna Herrold; and his long-time companion, Shirley Taylor and her family.
