Frederick R. "Fritz" Frost, 84, of Selinsgrove, passed away peacefully at his home on Monday, March 5, 2018, after a short battle with cancer.
He was born Feb. 17, 1934, in Washingtonville, a son of late Rev. Samuel R. and Georgeine L. (Fickes) Frost. On Sept. 14, 1957, he married the former Alice L. Valsing who preceded him in death on Aug. 17, 2009.
Fritz was a 1952 graduate of Selinsgrove High School and a 1956 graduate of Susquehanna University earning a degree in economics.
Fritz managed to work hard and cause trouble at the same time his whole life. He held positions at Weis Markets, PA Office of the Budget, New York Life, Philadelphia National Bank and finally purchased his father-in-law's business Valsings Jewelry Store in Selinsgrove and became a jeweler. At Valsings, Fritz was known for his excellent customer service, providing local law enforcement with an endless supply of coffee and being a constant source of pranks and good humor.
He was a member of Sharon Lutheran Church, Selinsgrove and of Lafayette Lodge No 194 F&AM Masonic Lodge in Selinsgrove.
He is survived by one son, one daughter, and their spouses, Scott F. and Amy E. Frost of Selinsgrove and Laurie A and Max J Olsen of Mertztown; five grandchildren, Scott M. Frost and wife Donna, Ian Frost, Megan, Lauren, and Aaron Olsen; one great-grandson, Frederick W. Frost; one sister, Roberta J Miller and husband Larry; one sister-in-law, Karen A Brunken; several nieces and their spouses including one special niece Sue Young who was by his side when he passed; and special friend, Dianne Sheaffer.
Family and friends will be received from 10 a.m. to noon Friday at Sharon Lutheran Church, 120 S. Market St., Selinsgrove, with a Masonic service at 11:45 with Lodge 194, followed by the funeral at noon, with the Rev. Robert P. Doll officiating.
Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Selinsgrove.
The family would like to thank the many loyal friends and neighbors who visited and provided support to Fritz during his illness.
