Emma G. Wert, 91, of Selinsgrove, passed away on Sunday evening, Nov. 5, 2017, at the Evangelical Community Hospital, Lewisburg.
She was born March 25, 1926, in Point Township, Northumberland County, a daughter of the late Fred and Olive (Heiser) Geise. On Feb. 12, 1949, she married Donald S. Wert who preceded her in death on July 27, 2004.
Emma was a 1944 graduate of Northumberland High School.
Early in her life she had been employed at Tioga Feeds, Sunbury, and after her marriage she had assisted her husband in the operation of the family farm. Later she had been employed at Saylor's Shirt factory, Beavertown and retired from Central IGA Market in Middleburg.
She was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church, Middleburg.
Emma enjoyed sewing, doing crafts, gardening, but the main focus of her life was being a homemaker and caring for her family.
She is survived by one daughter, Barbara A. Blakley, of Selinsgrove; three sons and two daughters-in-law, Kenneth D. and Diana Wert, of Enola, Fred L. Wert, of Middleburg, and Thomas J. and Joanna Wert, of Port Trevorton; 15 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by three brothers, Austin, Franklin, and Edwin Geise.
A viewing will be held from 9 to 11 a.m. Friday at Trinity United Methodist Church, Middleburg, followed by the funeral at 11, with Pastor George Price officiating.
Burial will be in Riverview Cemetery, Northumberland.
Contributions in Emma's memory may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.
Arrangements are by the Hummel Funeral Home, 574 Hill St., Middleburg.
