Elsie M. Sprenkel, 94, of rural Middleburg, passed away on Saturday evening, Feb. 17, 2018, at her home.
She was born March 7, 1923, in Chapman Township, Snyder County, a daughter of the late Lloyd P. and Edna M. (Reichenbach) Herrold. On April 21, 1941, she married Russell W. Sprenkel who preceded her in death on Sept. 23, 2010.
Elsie attended the Chapman Hollow School.
She was affiliated with St. Paul's United Methodist Church, Penns Creek.
Elsie enjoyed her flowers and was an avid bingo player, going to area bingo games with her friends. Elsie will be remembered as a gracious person by her family and her neighbors.
She is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Steven and Kay Sprenkle of Selinsgrove and Roy and Sandy Sprenkle, of Middleburg; four grandchildren, Elizabeth Barnett, Teresa Swineford, Trent Sprenkle, and Carla Robinson; eight great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter; and her faithful companion, Bonehead, her dog.
She was preceded in death by one daughter, Carolyn Jean Barnett Kim; one grandson, Chad Sprenkle; two brothers, Clarence and Milton Herrold; and three sisters, Grace Beaver, Edna Spickler, and Louella Bingaman.
Friends and family will be received from 10 to 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Hummel Funeral Home, 574 Hill St., Middleburg, followed by the funeral at 11, with Pastor Bob Klingerman officiating.
Burial will be in St. Paul's "Middlecreek Dam" Cemetery, Selinsgrove.
