Elizabeth "Betty" (Dressler) McCahan, 95, of Selinsgrove, formerly of Benton, died early Sunday morning, Sept. 17, 2017, at Brookdale Grayson View Nursing Center, Selinsgrove.
She was born Aug. 19, 1922, in Richfield, a daughter of the late Grover and Mabel (Reichenbach) Dressler. She was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, Kenneth B. "Ken" McCahan, on Feb. 27, 2006.
Betty was a 1942 graduate of Danville High School.
She had been employed by Bell Telephone Company for more than 20 years until her retirement in 1979.
While living in the Benton area she had been an active member of the Benton Christian Church, Disciples of Christ.
Surviving are her three sons and daughters-in-law, Keith E. and Lynn McCahan, of Wilmington, N.C., Duane D. and Debbie McCahan, of Selinsgrove, and Dean E. and Debbie, of Riverside; seven grandchildren, Greg, Matthew, Tiffany, Carley, Rachael, Lauren, and Katelyn; 11 eleven great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by a stepson, Captain Marlin Eugene McCahan on June 24, 1964 while serving in the Vietnam War. The last member of her immediate family, she was also preceded in death by six brothers, Nevin, Palmer, Charles, Boyd, Reuben and Austin Dressler; and a sister that died in infancy.
A viewing will be held from 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday at the McMichael Funeral Home Inc., 4394 Red Rock Road, Benton (Route 487), followed by the funeral at 11, with Pastor David I. Bronson officiating.
Burial will be in the Waller Cemetery.
